Newcastle HR firm lands a double at Stevie® Awards

FiveSeven Consulting has been recognised for taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary when it comes to human resources (HR) management solutions.

Their unique approach and response to the global pandemic, saw them take out one gold and one silver Award at the 2021 Asia-Pacific Stevie® Awards.

The Wickham-based business received a Gold Stevie® Award for Innovation in Human Resources Management, Planning and Practice, and a Silver Stevie® in the category of Most Valuable Corporate Response to COVID-19.

FiveSeven Consulting were one of the only HR Consultancy firms to win an Award at the event with other HR Awards given to internal HR departments of large companies or HR technology and software companies.

On an international scale this is a huge achievement for the group.

The Asia-Pacific Stevie® Awards are the only business awards program to recognise innovation in the workplace across all 29 nations within the Asia-Pacific region.

FiveSeven Consulting Director and Principal, Jane McConville said being awarded not one, but two Stevie® Awards was acknowledgement their game-changing approach to HR is warranted.

“FiveSeven Consulting are dragging HR practices kicking and screaming into this century,” Jane said.

“Our business model allows others to move away from a dependence on traditional HR methods, which can be quite boring to implement and learn, and are simply outdated. They are necessary, however, for any business which is why we like to shake things up.

“By providing a more interesting way for businesses to access support and manage internal processes, we ensure our clients build depth of capability and longevity within their business, not external to it.

“This Award recognition is proof that our growth as a company has fostered a sound philosophy and vision for our clients and is dynamic to the HR industry.”

FiveSeven’s services help business leaders and owners identify, develop, and embed commercially savvy people, culture, and business solutions. The result is a simple, yet effective, approach to problem solving for their clients.

“We provide the flexibility to tap in and out of support when needed, and access to a mentoring model that fosters internal learning rather than external dependence,” Jane said.

Jane said being honoured with the Silver Stevie® for the Most Valuable Corporate Response to COVID-19 was very humbling.

“We nominated in this category not to blow our own horn, but as recognition for the FiveSeven Consulting team around the work they do, the way they work, and how the team works with our clients,” she said.

“Our team shifted to solely working virtually – like most – so we supported them with care packages and ensured meaningful connections with each other was prioritised. Access to mental health support was also offered during lockdown.

“Most of our workforce are parents, so we shifted our business hours to allow our working parents the mental space to support children with home learning.

“While this was valuable for our team, we also found it provided additional value to our clients, with expanded flexibility to seek out-of-hours support.”

During 2020, FiveSeven Consulting ‘paused’ existing clients on retained contracts and provided phone or email advice at no cost on any HR or management advice.

“Our clients gave us amazing feedback during the COVID-19 pandemic, which I wanted recognised for the team.”

“We were all working virtually, continuing to support our clients, and home schooling as well. It was a new, unfamiliar, and continually changing environment we were faced with.

“But the team handled it with professionalism and dedication, and for that I’m grateful. The Silver Stevie® for the Most Valuable Corporate Response to COVID-19 is a well-deserved accolade for every member of the FiveSeven Consulting team.”

Gold, Silver and Bronze Stevie Award winners were determined by the average scores of more than 100 executives around the world acting as judges in March and April 2021.

“The eighth edition of the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards attracted many remarkable nominations,” Stevie Awards President, Maggie Gallagher said.

“The organisations that won this year have demonstrated that they have continued to innovate and succeed despite the COVID-19 pandemic, and we applaud them for their perseverance and creativity.”

The FiveSeven Consulting team look forward to celebrating the occasion officially at the Awards ceremony on 14 July.

“For now, we’ve popped some champagne and had some cake, but we look forward to getting dressed up to celebrate this huge milestone for our company.”

“Growing up in regional Australia and getting to this point has been an amazing and unexpected journey. For me, this Award recognises that without our team, supporters, and our clients – none of this would have been possible,” Jane concluded.
