Young Bean Counters recognised

Two young accountants were honoured at the third annual Bean Counters Ball last week.

Matthew Danvers of Doyle Partners and Elizabeth Goodwin from SiDCOR shared this year’s Young Achiever Award, presented by guest speaker and MC, Winter Olympics gold medalist Steven Bradbury OAM.

More than 230 local members of Certified Practicing Accountants Australia (CPA Australia) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA) and their guests gathered on Friday, 8 November at City Hall to support young people in the industry.

Chairman of the ICAA in the Hunter, Chad Rapsey, said applications were of the highest quality, with tight competition resulting in the selection of two winners.

“Both Matthew and Elizabeth have demonstrated strong leadership skills within their roles and maintain a strong community focus,” Chad said.

Hunter Chairman of CPA, Bradd Morelli, said the award was introduced last year to encourage professionals in the early stages of their careers.

“It’s a way of acknowledging the outstanding contribution of young people to their sector and the wider community,” Bradd said.

Matthew is engaged with the Cooks Hill Surf Lifesaving Club, while Elizabeth is a champion for bowel health.

The Bean Counters Ball also raises funds for educational scholarships, distributed through Samaritans and the Hunter TAFE Foundation to disadvantaged youth looking to study.

This year’s event was supported by a number of sponsors and business partners including Rapsey Griffiths, Beilby Consulting, Moray & Agnew Lawyers and OAS Technology Group.
