HGT Australia and the University of Newcastle (UoN) have partnered for five years to further build the local region’s reputation as a top tier destination in the global education market.
The deal opens up a series of guaranteed credit and direct entry pathway arrangements for international students to progress to various bachelor degrees at the University of Newcastle.
Head of HGT’s International College, John Liddicoat said the partnership will expand study options for students.
“Our focus on skills and industry engagement coupled with the university’s dedication to academic excellence delivers an exciting advancement in study options for students locally,” John said.
Better known locally as Novaskill, HGT Australia launched its International College in 2015. John said growth in demand has been overwhelming.
“As one of only a handful of vocational training providers in the region to accept international students through the government’s CRICOS Study Visa program, we have welcomed students from all over the world,” John said.
The agreement provides HGT Australia’s graduates with up to one year’s credit on their degree with the University of Newcastle.
“Although we have a number of campuses in other cities, Newcastle is HGT’s original home and it is fitting to have this agreement now in place with the university and have two of Newcastle’s long-established educational institutions working side-by-side,” John said.
The partnership was put into place to meet the growing appetite for Australian international education and to support job growth and creation in the local region.
HGT offers international students a range of qualifications including general English, business and aged care. Many of the qualifications include guaranteed work placement so the students graduate work-ready and bring a real-world perspective to their tertiary studies.
HGT’s commitment and leadership to the provision of foundational workforce solutions has transformed clients, partners, students and employers, but has most importantly allowed the business to achieve its mission to support communities by enriching people’s lives.
