Fletcher Lawyers has become the only boutique firm in regional New South Wales to have two solicitors formally recognised as accredited specialists in property law by the Law Society of New South Wales. The achievement follows Partner, Alira Muchiri recently obtaining specialist status to join fellow Partner, Kalinda Alderson in the specialised field.
Specialist accreditation is a professional milestone awarded to practitioners who demonstrate expertise through a rigorous assessment process. This includes peer reviews, written examinations and practical evaluations conducted by the Law Society.
Alira joined the team in April 2025 and achieved her accreditation on Saturday, 1 November 2025. Alira said she is pleased to have reached the milestone and to be collaborating with the team on technical property matters.
“It is great to collaborate with Kalinda and come to work every day with such a wonderful team,” Alira said.
Kalinda has retained her accredited specialist status since 2023. She said working closely with another specialist offers a unique advantage for both professional development and client outcomes.
“It offers an advantage to me in my continued learning and to our clients who benefit from a team who love the challenge of complex property matters,” Kalinda said.
Both Kalinda and Alira provide advice on complex property transactions, disputes and advisory work across the Hunter region and wider NSW. The dual accreditation is rare for smaller firms outside of metropolitan areas, where such specialised roles are typically found in larger national practices.
The recognition reinforces the presence of high-level legal expertise within the Hunter business community, allowing local clients to access specialist property advice without looking to Sydney firms.
