The 2026 Hunter Valley Wine & Beer Festival generated record gate attendance figures over the weekend, anchoring regional visitor economy spending across more than 60 premium local viticulture, craft brewing, and distilling enterprises. Staged at Rydges Resort Hunter Valley, the central trade marketplace co-located established regional agricultural brands with boutique independent beverage producers to capture high-yield domestic leisure travel markets.

The regional showcase was anchored by ‘Beyond the Pour’, a high-profile opening dining itinerary engineered by prominent regional culinary figures including Matt Dillow of Gartelmann Wines’ Deck Café, Gather Executive Chef, Ran Kimelfeld, and Frank Fawkner of EXP, which recently secured national recognition as Australia’s Regional Restaurant of the Year.

The integrated tourism calendar received direct capital underwriting from the New South Wales Government through its major events and tourism agency, Destination NSW. The strategic funding grant was deployed to expand inter-regional visitor acquisition channels and lower operational overhead risks for local hospitality suppliers navigating broader macroeconomic headwinds.

Festival Director, Jenny Farrell noted that public event subsidies remain critical to stabilising regional hospitality networks amid rising national supply chain pressures and shifting consumer discretionary spending baselines.

“To be able to provide such a rich selection of the region’s best wineries, brewers and distillers in one location, backed up with excellent entertainment and food, was a real testament to the Hunter Valley status as a must-visit destination,” Jenny said.

“We thank Destination NSW for their significant support. It is no secret that the events sector around the country is facing considerable difficulties, and the funding enabled us to stage an outstanding event that the Hunter Valley can be proud of.”

The festival asset is fully owned and operated by Schwartz Events, a dominant player in the national consumer exhibition space. The parent entity’s broader experience portfolio includes the Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS) marketplace framework, alongside regional operations such as the Canberra Beer & Cider Festival, Newcastle Beer Fest, and the Harbour 2 Vine Cycle Classic.

Following the successful execution of the 2026 commercial footprint, Schwartz Events has finalised the forward scheduling grid, lock-in July 10, 2027, as the official date for the next annual regional trade iteration.
