National Safety Services is a Registered Training Company (RTO) who delivers a large range of nationally accredited training programs across Australia.
With over 30 years’ experience in mining, construction and industry, National Safety Services Director, Shane Wallace said the business is committed to providing positive safety results for its clients through a wealth of experience, from an electrical trade background to a graduate of Newcastle University in WHS.
“National Safety Services provides solutions, support and opportunity for organisations to establish positive and sustainable work, health and safety (WHS) practices that benefit everyone,” Shane said.
“We ensure that when working with any client, we keep things simple at the first step. We understand that successful solutions are achieved through aligning WHS obligations with our client’s objectives.”
Recently, privately registered training organisations have undergone an Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) review. ASQA promotes quality training so that student, employers and industry can have confidence in Australia’s training sector. AQSA have recently undertaken a review regarding the delivery of student outcomes.
“This is resulting in improvement to the ethical delivery of vocational training for the continued health of the private sectors ability to deliver flexible quality results,” Shane said.
Shane considers that delivery of group training with quality content plays a vital role in the local Hunter industry.
“At National Safety Services we provide comprehensive grounded WHS advice and delivery of nationally accredited training, with an emphasis on our ability to write training programs to identify site and/or company specific hazards,” Shane said.
“We develop site specific training packages for local clients to communicate their procedures to assist with risk mitigation and compliance. Procedures help to identify task risks, job responsibilities and establishing boundaries for workplaces. However, they can lack relevance if they are not communicated to employees.”
Shane said the industry is not without its challenges.
”Implementation of preventative workplace health practices and improving the delivery of applicable workplace training continue to be a challenge, particularly in the prevention of musculoskeletal injuries involving lifting, carrying or putting down objects, falls, and repetitive movement or strain,” Shane said.
“Where there are challenges, there are also opportunities. Workplace training is an ever changing economic environment; we need to be flexible and quick-thinking in order for our region to succeed.
“Private RTOs are well equipped to quickly adapt to withstand the fast-changing nature of industry requirements and the demands of business for the provision of vocational education and training (VET) to maintain our competitive advantage.
“We have recently expanded scope in to the Hazardous Areas electrical training (EEHA) to assist Hunter industries to engage with a local provider.
