Moray and Agnew celebrate new Partners for the new financial year

Moray and Agnew’s Newcastle team has announced the promotion of four senior lawyers.

Sarah Hammond, Helene Tretheway and Joan Williams have been promoted to Partner and Lucy Munro has been promoted to Special Counsel from 1 July 2023.

Moray and Agnew’s Newcastle Managing Partner, Sean O’Sullivan said celebrating the success of talented lawyers from the Newcastle team is a fantastic way to start the next financial year.

“Each person has consistently demonstrated their strong client-first ethos coupled with exceptional legal skills, adding to the depth of legal talent we have here in Newcastle,” Sean said.

“We continue to grow in line with client demand, with more than 130 people in our Newcastle office, and 700 across Australia.

“Sarah, Helene, Joan and Lucy’s achievements are part of 14 senior promotions announced from 1 July in Moray and Agnew’s seven offices around the country, including seven new partners.”

Sarah Hammond has been part of the firm for over a decade, as has Joan Williams.

“I’m extremely proud to join the partnership of a firm that I’m privileged to have been part of for more than 10 years,” Sarah said.

“I’ve been with the firm for over 10 years and love it. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what the next 10 years hold,” Joan agreed.

Sarah’s expertise is in building, construction and commercial litigation, primarily in transport, utilities, civil infrastructure, defence and aerospace.

Joan’s practice is predominantly in public liability, professional indemnity and insurance for clients including Australia’s largest insurers and NSW local councils, as well as handling product liability claims for international insurers and advising on governance, GIPA and privacy law.

Helene Tretheway is also looking forward to joining Moray’s Newcastle partnership.

“I love being part of the team here and working with a great group of people,” Helene said.

Helene’s expertise lies in compulsory third party and public liability insurance claims, where she has wide-ranging experience in handling both litigated and non-litigated matters and represents clients in all relevant Courts and Commissions.

The promotions highlight the hard work and dedication across the firm, showcasing their commitment to growth and success.
