Newcastle Business Club is continuing their year of high profile speakers, presenting Lisa Wilkinson as the keynote speaker for their November luncheon.
Club President Ty Brennock said that following the success of the former Prime Minister John Howard at the June luncheon, the Club committee wanted to bring another well known and high profile speaker to the region.
“It’s also important to us to ensure we are providing a wide range of speakers,” Ty said.
“Lisa has a significant place in journalism history in Australia, having achieved a wide-range of impressive success since she was appointed editor of the national women’s magazine Dolly at age 21.”
Four years later, on the recommendation of the late Kerry Packer, Lisa was offered the editorship of Cleo. Over the next decade, she oversaw Cleo’s rapid circulation surge which resulted in a doubling of circulation and guiding it to the position of the number one selling women’s lifestyle magazine per capita in the world. Later she became Cleo’s International Editor-in-Chief, running editions in New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
“Lisa now enters our homes each weekday morning as the co-host of the TODAY Show and is one of Australia’s most admired and respected journalists and corporate presenters.”
Named among the 40 Most Inspiring Women Over 40 in Australia for 2013 by Prevention Magazine, for the past two decades Lisa has successfully applied her journalistic talents to magazine publishing, television and radio. Her communication skills have also made her one of the country’s most sought-after corporate presenters and conference and event facilitators.
Newcastle Business Club presents the special event in conjunction with their sponsors – Passionate People Institute, The Greater and GWG Partners.
Tickets are $79 for members and $99 for non members and can be purchased online.
Between now and then the Club has a number of other invites, including hosting a panel of speakers on the Port, NRMA President Kyle Loades and Jeff McCloy.
