Ladies who lunch help raise funds for Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation

As part of Lake Macquarie Yacht Club’s ongoing commitment to its local community, it held its second Ladies Lunch on the Lake recently with guests raising over $3,000 for Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation.

Decked out in pink and enjoying waterfront views of Belmont Bay, more than 80 women attended the function to help raise money for a local cause.

Treasurer of Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation, Rosalie Taggart attended the event as guest speaker and provided insights on the services that the organisation provides to residents of the Hunter region.

General Manager of Lake Macquarie Yacht Club, Mark Norden said the event is held twice a year and is just one of the ways that the business shows its commitment to the local region.

“Even though we are a small club, we are passionate about our ability to be involved in helping community organisations,” Mark said.

“It is something we will continue to be involved in as the club grows.”

The club has also committed to raising funds for Sailability, which provides people with physical and intellectual disabilities with the opportunity to sail on yachts. The local Sailability club is the only club in Australia that provides sailing to those with disability across four days a week for 48 weeks of the year.

The next Ladies Lunch on the Lake will be held on Friday 13 September, this time supporting the cause Fight for Connar.

Raffle prizes for the recent lunch were been donated by Newcastle businesses and photographers, including Lake Macquarie Yacht Charters.

Owner of Lake Macquarie Yacht Charters, Michael Pal said he was proud to support a good cause.

“It is an honour to support Lake Macquarie Yacht Club and its involvement in donating to charity organisations,” Michael said.
