General Manager, Wayne Kruger said Hunter Cargo and Customs is a global logistics company providing a fully integrated service, utilising all modes of freight including air, sea, road and rail.
“We add value to local businesses by leveraging off interstate and international long-term contracts for all door-to-door freight forwarding requirements,” Wayne said.
“In addition to freight management we can assist with all custom clearance needs and have warehousing capabilities for our clients.
“Logistics has changed significantly over the past few years, with customers being able to undertake all their transactions on-line. They can track their freight in real time with 24/7 secure access.
“We also provide full marine insurance for our customers that offers coverage for the loss, damage or theft of goods in transit.”
Hunter Cargo and Customs also has experience and capabilities in project freight. They were recently successful in securing two competitive open tender projects to freight a 250-tonne bulk freight shipment from a large local Newcastle business to India and the importation of 14,500 solar panels and pilings for the Summerhill Solar Farm project in Minmi.
“From a regional perspective, with Newcastle Airport now open to international routes and the Port of Newcastle container terminal plans, customers will benefit through prompt delivery times and cost competition,” Wayne said.
As is the case in any industry, Hunter Cargo and Customs face an array of challenges that come with being a logistics company.
“Congestion and cohesion to pick and return containers in and out of Botany is a constant challenge. This exacerbates the congestion issues on our roads and adds costs to our local traders in the Hunter,” Wayne said.
“This issue would be significantly alleviated if the Port of Newcastle container terminal plans were to come to fruition.”
