Carrington based, Barr Property and Planning has appointed two Graduate Planners to its growing team.
Kenyon Greaves and Laura Robinson joined the specialist planning, social and economic assessment team in September to meet increasing client needs and projects.
Kenyon has relocated to the Hunter after living and studying in Western Australia. He completed a Bachelor of Urban Regional Planning at Curtin University but was keen to move east to work with a company that was focused on regional planning.
A keen outdoors traveller and adventurer, Kenyon has wanted a career in planning since he was inspired by a guest speaker in his final year of high school.
Having always had a passion for urban planning and an interest in sustainable and green design, he saw the position at Barr Property as a great opportunity to feed further into his passions.
“When I saw the position with Barr Property and Planning, I saw it as a very logical place to develop my personal skills and learn from an experienced and growing team who worked with clients to help create modern spaces and places,” Kenyon said.
“The move to Newcastle has also allowed me to tick-off one of my dreams of using work to travel and see the world.”
University of Newcastle graduate, Laura Robinson was excited by the opportunity to work with a company that worked on a diverse range of projects across the region.
Originally from Tamworth, Laura moved to Newcastle to study and recently completed a Bachelor of Development Studies and Urban and Regional Development.
While at Uni, Laura played water polo and was made a University Blue in that sport and currently plays with the Hunter Hurricanes. She is about to undertake a Master of Planning.
“I am excited about the opportunity to work across a range of projects and sectors. I am also looking forward to working on projects where I can help clients realise sustainable planning and development solutions,” Laura said.
Managing Director, Stephen Barr said that Laura and Kenyon represented an exciting stage in the firm’s growth.
“Since opening in 2015, we have remained focused on growing the business to meet the needs of our clients. Kenyon and Laura represent a new generation of urban planners who will bring additional dimensions of thinking to sustainability and urban development,” Stephen said.
