Newcastle-founded luxury brand Simon Curwood Custom Jeweller has transitioned to the national fashion stage as the exclusive jewellery partner for Australian label Albus Lumen. The collaboration was showcased during an off-site runway presentation on Friday 15 May 2026, as part of the Australian Fashion Week calendar.
The partnership involved the provision of signature diamond and fine jewellery pieces to complement Albus Lumen’s minimalist aesthetic. For the homegrown Newcastle brand, the event marks a strategic expansion into the national fashion and creative industries, positioning local craftsmanship alongside established contemporary labels.
Founder, Simon Curwood said the collaboration represents the evolution of the business from its regional origins to a national platform.
“This began in my hometown of Newcastle, so seeing our pieces step onto the national stage of fashion is an exceptionally proud moment,” Simon said.
“What started with a deep connection to craftsmanship here at home has now evolved into something that’s being showcased nationally. To see that journey reflected on a runway like Albus Lumen is incredibly special.”
Creative Director of Albus Lumen, Marina Afonina said the jewellery collection provided a necessary contrast to the collection’s cinematic and futuristic themes.
“Set against a dark, cinematic backdrop charged with futuristic tension and emotional depth, this collection explores contrast – sleek minimalism against high-shine glamour, shadow against light,” Marina said.
“Collaborating with Simon Curwood Custom Jeweller brings another layer to the runway through the understated elegance of classic diamond necklaces and bracelets. There’s a refined simplicity to the pieces that recalls the effortless glamour of the ‘90s – timeless, polished and quietly powerful – bringing softness and light to the darker mood of the collection while enhancing its modern sense of luxury.”
The presentation was attended by national media, buyers and industry stylists, providing the Newcastle brand with exposure to a broader luxury market. Simon Curwood Custom Jeweller has utilised this partnership to highlight its bespoke design capabilities, moving beyond traditional retail into high-fashion logistics and styling.
As the Hunter region continues to foster creative enterprises, the inclusion of a local brand in a primary Fashion Week event underscores the capacity for regional businesses to scale into competitive national sectors.
