After six years at the helm of the business, Monica Clare Recruitment farewell founding partner, Monica Walmsley.
Monica has led a successful 17-year recruitment career, growing the business with Co-Founder Clare Ferguson from a team of two to 16. MCR is now the largest, specialised white-collar recruitment firm in the Newcastle and Hunter Valley region, due in no small part, to this dynamic duo.
Monica leaves the business to pursue studies and an entirely new career. From her time at MCR she says she counts her successes in many ways.
“MCR has succeeded professionally, and we’ve really built a name for ourselves within the industry. But I’m also so proud of the culture we have created within the business. We have stuck true to our values, support the community and celebrate the individuals within our team both personally and professionally.”
“It’s become the business that I dreamt about creating with Clare. It’s special to say we made it. We ticked off that goal.”
As Monica begins her new venture, she’s excited for the challenge and prospect of more availability for her young family but admits it is bittersweet.
“I’ve absolutely loved working in such a vibrant, agile and ever-changing industry. I’ve met some wonderful colleagues, clients, and candidates, some of whom I count as lifelong friends. Clare and I built something to be proud of and I’m thankful for her and each of our amazing clients along the way.”
“As I become a student again, I look forward to spending more time with my children, learning something completely new to me, and deadlines of a different kind.”
As Monica departs, Clare will continue as majority owner and Director alongside Simon Rutten.
“Starting a business with someone is an amazing experience and together we have so much to be proud of. We hit some amazing milestones in our careers together. It’s been a wonderful partnership that I’m so thankful for,” says Clare.
“I know I will always have Monica there to reach out to for advice. It’s not over, it’s just a new chapter for us.”
Tantamount to MCR’s success is the level of service offered. Simon Rutten promises this won’t change and instead the focus will be about continuing to raise the bar.
