Community takes a swing at supporting local families

The Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation (HBCF) is running its second annual Pink Charity Golf Day at Belmont Golf Course on Friday 10 March 2023, to raise much-needed funds to support Hunter people and their families undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

In 2023, for their second-ever Golf Day event, The Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation will be collaborating with major sponsors, Mudbath Digital and NCR Blinds.

CCO of Mudbath, Claire Dawson says they are excited to bring the community a wonderful networking event to raise funds to continue to support local breast cancer families.

“Mudbath is filled with immense pride to be the major sponsor of the Pink Charity Golf Day, supporting the HBCF,” Claire said.

“As a national business born out of Newcastle, coupled with the fact that we provide digital software solutions to the healthcare industry, we know the impacts cancer has on the lives of any community.

“It is a privilege to contribute to such a meaningful cause, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact this event will have in the Hunter region for Breast Cancer patients and their families.”

Owner of NCR Blinds, Michelle Gray said that they are looking forward to joining forces with such a worthy cause.

“How can we not support such a wonderful foundation that supports The Women of the Hunter, having experienced this support first-hand after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020,” Michelle said.

Kicking off at noon, the golf afternoon will have fun hole activities and challenges to enjoy along the way with prizes to be won.

This year, HBCF will be continuing the fun by hosting a Gala Dinner after the game of golf. The gala dinner will be an opportunity to network with up to 32 local businesses from the Hunter community.

The Gala Dinner will include exciting guest speakers, a delicious 3-course meal, entertainment, live auctions, silent auction & raffle prizes.

HBCF is a completely independent, not-for-profit, local charity raising funds for breast cancer families in the local area.

For the last 23 years, HBCF has relied on the generosity of the Hunter community to fund HBCF’s supportive care services for local breast cancer families undergoing active treatment for breast cancer.

HBCF’s General Manager, Abbey McDonell said the support from the local community was integral to the survival of HBCF, with services in the local area tripling since 2019.

“Our services include everything from a wig library, private transport, cleaning and lawn maintenance, exercise programs, comfort cushions for post-surgery, support groups and much more,” Abbey said.

“HBCF’s clients are local Hunter people who are currently going through treatment for breast cancer and their families.”
