Sharp Office and SENPOS raise over $22,000 for Emma’s Warriors at Annual Golf Day

Sharp Office and SENPOS Point of Sale (SENPOS) have raised over $22,000 for local charity Emma’s Warriors through their annual Corporate Golf Day, held in June.

The event, a long-standing tradition for the Newcastle-based businesses, brings together customers, partners, and suppliers in support of a local cause. This year, the spotlight was on Emma’s Warriors, a locally founded not-for-profit that supports children undergoing long hospital stays due to serious illness.

The funds were raised through generous donations and a charity auction held during the day, with all proceeds going directly to the charity.

“A great show of generosity that will help make a difference to the support and resources Emma can continue providing for other children and families,” said George Tuntevski, Managing Director of Sharp Office.

“We see this young charity that needs some help along and didn’t hesitate to help because what they do is sensational,” he said.

Emma’s Warriors was created by Emma Walsh and her family, following Emma’s long battle with leukaemia after a diagnosis in 2022 at 13 years old. Emma became determined to help others facing a similar battle, and through Emma’s Warriors, she is able to provide comfort and practical relief to families affected by childhood cancer.

Their backpacks are an essential part of the help they provide and contain essential and comforting items like bed sheets, an Uber Eats voucher, skincare products, and an Amazon Firestick – aiming to make lengthy hospital stays more manageable. The charity also helps cover costs such as groceries, counselling services, rehabilitation, and on occasion interstate travel for treatment.

“Emma’s Warriors is an incredible cause that also tells a story about family, which is something we can all relate to,” George said. “We have always been committed to supporting local causes that help children and families in need, and Emma’s Warriors is a remarkable example of this.”

Emma’s father, Brendan Walsh, said the charity was born out of a desire to help others facing what they had experienced as a family.

“The whole family is involved in the healing process,” he said. “Starting Emma’s Warriors gave us a way to help others who are going through what we did.”

For Emma’s older brother Will, seeing the positive response from the backpacks is great to see.

“Hospitals aren’t always the nicest place to be, and I like to think of the backpack as a way of bringing in a little of the outside world and making their days at the hospital a little bit better,” he said.

The day not only celebrated community spirit but demonstrated Sharp Office and SENPOS’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the Hunter Region.
