Peer recognition for Mullane & Lindsay family lawyers

Mullane & Lindsay Solicitors has been recognised for the ninth consecutive year as one of the region’s leading family law specialists in the 2025 Doyles Guide to Leading Law Firms.

Three of the firm’s family lawyers are also named in the prestigious guide, where entries are determined through online peer-based surveys as well as extensive interviews with clients, peers and relevant industry bodies.

Managing Director Ashleigh John, who has practiced family law at Mullane & Lindsay for over 17 years, has been named a Leading Family and Divorce Lawyer. Ashleigh has extensive experience in family law, and specialises in complex family law cases.  She is also a Director of Business Hunter, the immediate past President of the Hunter Valley Family Law Practitioners Association, and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Practice Group Leader, Catherine Williams, has been named a Recommended Family and Divorce Lawyer. Catherine has been practicing in family law for over 20 years and has considerable experience in all aspects of family law matters.  She is the local representative to the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, regional committee.

Senior Associate, Rose Laffan, has been listed as a NSW Family Law Rising Star. In addition to her work as a family law solicitor, Rose is also a qualified mediator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.  Rose is currently the Junior Vice-President of the Newcastle Law Society.  Together with Ashleigh John, Rose has previously taught the Family Law Practice program at the University of Newcastle.

Managing Director Ashleigh John says it reflects the firm’s ongoing commitment to deliver quality, values-based services to clients and the wider community.  “To be recognised for the ninth year in a row is a testament to the quality and the stability of our family law team”

“Our family law team’s dedication extends beyond supporting families through difficult relationship breakdowns,” Ashleigh said.

“We see our role as both supporting families through difficult relationship breakdowns and taking an active role in the community to advocate for appropriate resourcing for those accessing the family law system in this region and supporting the development of next generation lawyers.”

Mullane & Lindsay’s Family Law team also includes Xander Gee and Georgia Debono; and is ably supported by Angela Newsome, Jennifer Gilmour Sally-Anne Todkill, Ashtyn Laycock and Freia Adamson-McDonald.

Over 45 years, the firm has produced family law Judges, Judicial Registrars and barristers.

“To be recognised by our industry peers as leading the way is a wonderful endorsement of the legal talents and expertise across our entire practice,” Ashleigh said.
