Butter Fish Services has recruited a new Occupational Therapist (OT) to its team who has over a decade of experience in the field.
Deb Tobin’s professional background has seen her specialise in community and occupational rehabilitation, before wanting to make the move to an organisation that provides the opportunity for her to work as a passionate, goal-centred OT.
Deb said Butter Fish Services complemented that professional goal.
“I wanted to work with a provider who upholds the principles of what the NDIS was meant to achieve – to have clients work hard to achieve their goals, not encouraging them to become dependent on services,” Deb said.
Deb spends time during her OT assessments and service provision to listen to the client’s story, taking the time to understand their journey and providing recommendations and therapy which are holistic and individual.
“I love going into people’s homes, listening to what they actually require and helping them achieve their outcomes in a way that suits them,” Deb said.
Deb is passionate about empowering everyone to reach their full potential and she believes with the right supports, everyone can achieve their goals.
She’s also a Hunter girl born and bred and exceptionally passionate about helping her local community.
“I grew up in Newcastle and currently live on a little farm outside of Raymond Terrace with my two kids, so I am very community-focused and feel like this role can assist me in providing back to the community. That’s part of the reason I took it on, so I can give back to people,” Deb said.
CEO of Butter Fish Services, Don MacAskill said Deb is a wonderful addition to the growing team.
“At Butter Fish Services we’re all about removing barriers, being accessible, understanding our clients’ needs and supporting them with skilled people who can really add value and help them achieve goals,” Don said.
“Deb is without a doubt one of those people.”
