Local Accountant, Dan Velich has launched a new boutique accounting firm, Velich Advisory.
The new firm aims to use technology to provide proactive and efficient advice to small businesses whilst also giving back to the community.
Velich Advisory has heavily invested in technology to enable efficiencies and allow them to spend more time proactively catering to client needs and advising clients on how to grow their small business.
The firm has experienced strong early interest for their services despite small businesses bearing the brunt of the recent COVID-related shutdowns.
Dan has attributed this growth to clients wanting a more proactive and efficient service and also to more millennials starting small businesses.
These businesses and individuals they tend to be more open to using technology that improves their business and processes.
“Business owners are time poor. They want proactive and efficient advice and I believe that is why we are seeing such strong interest for our services. Whether it be registering for government grants, keeping up to date with tax changes or undertaking financial health checks,” Dan said.
“We provide that to all our customers for a stable monthly fee, allowing them to focus on what’s important to them, growing their business and spending time with their family.”
The company has already been engaged by several small businesses, including Director at Hunter Rehabilitation & Health, Ryan McCathie.
“Like most small business owners, I wear multiple hats in my business. I needed an accountant that could provide a proactive and efficient service and would answer my phone calls,” Ryan said.
“Dan has been a valuable addition to our business and the stable monthly fee his business offers has been great for us as we are no longer hit with a big bill at the end of the year.”
Dan, whilst paying respect to his past employers, said starting his own business was triggered by the recent loss of his father.
“Throughout my career I have been fortunate enough to work with some of Newcastle’s brightest minds and really enjoyed the challenge. However, after losing my father, father-in-law, and uncle in recent years, all in their 50’s, it has made me realise that life is too short to wait for the right moment to start my business,” he said.
“I hope to use the knowledge and skills that these excellent businessmen have taught me, to provide proactive and holistic advice to small businesses.”
Velich Advisory are in the process of finalising their agreement with the Cancer Council where they will be donating 5 per cent of their profits to help find better treatment options for pancreatic cancer.
