MARS Building, a local award-winning company operating throughout New South Wales, is set to deliver more than 250 affordable homes for the Hunter region’s frontline workers.
Being one of the first of 36 affordable home developments topped out earlier this week, Eve Apartments is set to be a five-storey complex that will provide one and two-bedroom homes for vulnerable families of varying household dynamics.
The scheme is being delivered through the innovative NSW Government’s Social and Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF) program. The building is being developed and funded by ASX 300 listed Centuria Capital Group.
Upon completion, Eve Apartments will be operated by one of Australia’s largest non-government community housing providers.
MARS Building Director, Michael Boyd, said it’s been a pleasure to play such an important role in this development.
“It really is an honour for MARS Building to be a part of this important housing initiative,” he said.
“It has been wonderful, partnering with the dedicated teams at Centuria Capital and other Community Housing Providers to deliver quality homes, in great locations, that provide access to support services.
“The world is going through a shift, and together we need to ensure we look after our most vulnerable and frontline essential workers in our community.”
Centuria Capital’s Head of Development, Andre Bali, said it is exciting to be able to partner with local companies to provide for a great cause such as this in the community.
“We are proud to partner with Compass Housing, MARS Building, and the NSW Government to deliver much needed affordable homes for the local Newcastle community,” he said.
“It is a vital necessity, especially for key, frontline workers. These homes will help shape the fabric of the Mayfield neighbourhood.”
Furthermore, Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor, Declan Clausen, said the city is glad to welcome the Eve Apartment development, which will be a huge advantage for the community’s frontline workers.
“The City of Newcastle is really pleased to see this Eve Apartments development here in Mayfield. The partnership between MARS Building and Centuria Capital means we’ve been able to deliver new social and affordable housing that is going to provide advantage to this community.”
The development is near local infrastructure and transport nodes, schools and shops, along with medical and support amenity. Construction is forecast to be completed in late January 2021.
MARS Building will deliver the remaining affordable homes in the coming twelve months in the Lake Macquarie and Central Coast LGAs, working towards the NSW Government’s long-term plan of over 3,400 social and affordable homes that further improve the lives of residents with coordinated access to support that are tailored to their individual needs, and gives them the tools they need to improve their lives.
