A Growing Understanding Speech Pathology has been recognised for their individualised and passionate approach at the 2019 Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards.
Jess Kiely, one of the exceptional team members at the Lake Macquarie based practice, won the Outstanding Young Employee award at the recent ceremony, held at Belmont 16s.
Lauren Haskins, Practice Director of A Growing Understanding Speech Pathology, expressed how proud she was of her younger team member.
“Jess’ dedicated approach to delivering individualised speech therapy that supports the entire family unit is just one of the many reasons why she is such an asset to our team,” Lauren said.
“In the two years Jess has been with us, she has grown into a compassionate speech pathologist, and her commitment to our clients make her truly deserving of this acknowledgment,” she continued.
As the name suggests, A Growing Understanding Speech Pathology provide services that are centred around growing the understanding of both children and those who care for and support them.
The team at A Growing Understanding believe that parent involvement is essential when it comes to achieving the best results.
By combing what they call the ‘Three E’s of Family Growth – Engagement, Encouragement, Empowerment, the talented team can deliver an efficient and effective service that ensures parents have the skills and confidence to support their child across a variety of contexts, including the delivery of therapy at home.
“We pride ourselves on increasing the skills and understanding of parents and carers, so they too can support the growth of the child,” Lauren said.
“We are all delighted that Jess has been recognised for her hard work, and believe this acknowledgement is representative of the effort we all put in when it comes to developing our skills and delivering successful outcomes for our families.”
As a registered provider with Medicare, private health funds and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), A Growing Understanding can support children with developmental disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, children who are not yet talking, as well as stuttering and speech sound difficulties.
“We feel like winners every day when we see the children, we work with gain confidence in their abilities and skills”, Lauren said.
