The first sod will be turned on a ten million development in Cardiff South this August, making way for an integrated health precinct that will become the first of its type in Australia.
The ATUNE Health Centres development has been ten years in planning and will open its doors in the third quarter of 2020, as the home to more than one hundred health and medical professionals working across an integrated health model including sixteen disciplines.
Each person working on site will be an employee of ATUNE Health Centres and will work collaboratively across disciplines to support patient outcomes.
On completion, the existing squash court complex located just off Macquarie Road with access from Ada Street in Cardiff South, will be transformed into a multi-use centre.
The multi-use centre will include thirty consultation rooms – which includes seven medical suites, pathology services, two Pilates and yoga studios, one hundred seat auditorium, hydro pool, rehabilitation gym, a café and health food store.
The development will also retain eight squash courts.
ATUNE Health Centres CEO, and Lake Macquarie Business Person of the Year 2019, Simon Ashley said that the Cardiff South centre has been designed carefully to meet community needs.
“The decision to locate the centre within Lake Macquarie was strategic and designed to complement the city’s evolving objectives to diversify the economy, connect communities and contribute to lifestyle and wellbeing options,” Simon said.
“This approach is supported by our ongoing commitment at ATUNE Health Centres to realise the successful integration of traditional health and therapeutic services with spaces that encourage and promote healthier living options.”
Simon recalls that he was excited to hear local politicians recognised the benefit of such community centres.
“We’re delighted that Pat Conroy MP, Jodie Harrison MP, Greg Piper MP and Cr Kay Fraser recognise the community benefit and are joining us for the sod turning event,” he said.
It is expected that the construction will be complete in about forty weeks with first appointments being available in September 2020 (subject to change).
