The Hunter Manufacturing Awards (HMA) has announced a leadership transition following its annual general meeting on Wednesday, 18 March 2026. Outgoing Chair, Jacqui Daley concluded a nine-year tenure on the board, with long-standing judge and industry leader Chris Kelleher appointed as the incoming Chair.
The transition comes as the organisation enters its 22nd year following a period of significant growth. In 2025, the awards saw entries increase by more than 50 per cent and recorded its highest ever attendance for the annual gala evening.
Jacqui said serving as chair was a privilege and she remains inspired by the ingenuity of regional manufacturers.
“Our region’s manufacturers are world-class innovators and problem solvers. It has been an honour to shine a light on their achievements,” Jacqui said.
During her three years as chair, the board launched the HMA Hall of Fame and established a pathway to fast-track regional winners into the National Manufacturing Awards. Jacqui said she leaves the role with confidence in the future of the organisation.
“HMA will continue to grow and celebrate the talented people and businesses shaping the future of our region,” Jacqui said.
Incoming Chair, Chris Kelleher steps into the role with 13 years of experience as an HMA judge. Currently the General Manager at Myo Munchee Operations, Chris has held senior leadership positions across professional services, research commercialisation and construction.
Chris said he was honoured to take on the role and continue elevating manufacturing excellence across the Hunter, Central Coast, New England and Mid-North Coast.
“Manufacturing is a critical driver of economic strength and future prosperity. I am excited to advocate for this industry through connection and education on both a regional and national stage,” Chris said.
The organisation also welcomed five new members to the board during the meeting. These include Managing Director of The Brand People, Crystal Bergemann; Patent Attorney at Caska IP, Andrew Caska; Director of Integrated AI, Marnie Davey; and CEO of Varley Vehicles, Jeff Honniball.
The 2025 Rising Star winner and Electronics Product Design Engineer at Elecbrakes, Brandon Lane also joined the board for a one-year guest term.
Chris said he looks forward to working with the new board to build on existing foundations.
“I want to recognise the leadership of Jacqui Daley whose dedication helped elevate the profile of our region’s manufacturers,” Chris said.
The 2026 awards program is scheduled for launch in May 2026.
