International demand for skills is at an all time high. With the recent grand opening of HGT Australia International Colleges – Newcastle Campus, the Hunter is playing a significant part in meeting the growing appetite for Australian international education.
The Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelms joined HGT Australia‘s Chairman, Michael Johns to cut the ribbon in celebration of the official opening of the campus.
Michael said the campus is a significant milestone for the Hunter and for the business.
“This is an auspicious occasion and an important milestone in HGT Australia’s 37 year history in Newcastle,” Michael said.
The first international students commenced their studies in September 2017 and already the feedback from students about their education experience with HGT has been positive.
General Manager of the business, John Liddicoat said Newcastle’s international reputation as a world-class medical, aged care, medical research and education destination cannot be faulted.
“HGT Australia is proud to showcase everything that our beautiful region has to offer and support international students from around the globe to develop their community services and management credentials,” John said.
“The campus, already a prominent feature of the skills landscape for Newcastle locals, is the perfect location for international students boasting sophisticated practical learning laboratories, state of the art teaching facilities and leading industry resources.”
Deputy Head of College, Annie Jiang said the college’s purpose is to help students achieve their best possible future.
“The college will use innovation and technology to provide a first-class experience for all of our students to offer them the very best opportunities for their future,” Annie said.
In addition to community services and leadership training, the campus will provide English language programs commencing in early 2018, offering students a comprehensive education experience and setting the foundation for further higher education and employment opportunities.
The opening of the Newcastle campus is the latest in HGT’s international expansion, complementing the various offshore education projects in play since 2015.
