Newcastle and Lake Macquarie netball associations have received a financial boost to support their 2024 seasons, thanks to a partnership with Greater Bank.

In a boon for local netball, Charlestown, Lakeside, Westlakes, Callaghan and District, and Newcastle netball associations have all received sponsorships from the locally-headquartered bank, benefiting thousands of members of all ages.

With Charlestown Netball Association’s (CNA) representative program, the sponsorship will assist with accreditation costs for representative personnel, such as coaches and umpires, as well as subsidise their attendance at Sydney’s State Titles later this year.

For the first time CNA will compete in the under 14s boys division at Junior State Titles with the association hoping they will also be able to attract more men and boys to the sport, continuing the growth in their competition which now boasts over 1,000 players.

The sponsorship will also support representative teams at Westlakes District Netball Association as well as contribute to maintenance at their courts, with the Wangi Wangi facility supporting over 600 members.

Alongside grassroots netball, Greater Bank is a founding partner of Hunter Netball who provide emerging athletes with a pathway to Netball NSW elite competitions through their participation in the Netball NSW Metro League again in 2024.

Hunter Netball Chair, Jodi Cassar PSM said that financial support for all levels of netball was greatly appreciated.

“Associations are the backbone of netball in NSW, providing a culturally safe place for netballers young and old to improve their skills, stay healthy and, importantly, have fun,” Jodi said.

“We’re also really excited to be able to provide opportunities for emerging athletes from across the Hunter in the Netball NSW Metro League competition with some great early on court performance by both teams.

“The Greater Bank partnerships help take the financial burden away from families and associations across the region, making sure netball remains accessible to all.”

Greater Bank Glendale Branch Manager, Emma Dumbrill said it was exciting to see the season underway.

“Greater Bank has been supporting netball in the Hunter for over 30 years, and that’s because we love it!” Emma said.

“No matter the level, netball promotes teamwork, friendships and a healthy lifestyle, and anyone can have a go.

“It’s going to be a fantastic season, and we hope everyone has another great year.”
