Daracon landscaper shortlisted at 2026 NAWIC NSW Awards for Excellence

Daracon Group Landscape Maintenance Team Leader Paris Millington has been named a finalist for the Tradesperson Scholarship at the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) NSW 2026 Awards for Excellence. Sponsored by Stowe Australia, the annual scholarship category evaluates female tradespeople across the construction and civil engineering sectors, with the winner receiving a $4,000 education grant to support advanced trade training.

Paris entered the civil landscaping sector after completing a dual Certificate III in Horticulture and Certificate III in Landscape Construction. Following the completion of her apprenticeship in 2024, she was promoted to Team Leader at Daracon Group, becoming the first female tradesperson in the civil contractor’s landscaping division. In her current role, she manages field crews, coordinates site maintenance schedules, and oversees project quality assurance across commercial developments in the Hunter.

The nomination continues Daracon Group’s ongoing involvement in the NAWIC NSW Excellence Awards, following finalist selections in 2024 and 2025, as well as team member Hayley Sansom winning the University Scholarship category in 2023. Award winners for the 2026 program will be announced at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney on Thursday 19 November 2026.

People and Culture Manager at Daracon Group, Adele Stewart stated that internal trade progression builds operational capability and leadership across regional construction teams.

“We are incredibly proud to see Paris being recognised as a Finalist in the 2026 NAWIC NSW Excellence Awards,” Adele said.

“From the beginning of her Apprenticeship, Paris has embraced every opportunity to learn, develop and challenge herself. Her journey highlights the important role skilled trades play in our industry and the impact that passionate, capable people can have when given the opportunity to succeed. Paris has become a respected leader within our Landscaping Team and an inspiring role model for current and future Apprentices. This recognition is thoroughly deserved, and we look forward to seeing her continue to achieve great things in her career.”

Landscape Maintenance Team Leader at Daracon Group, Paris Millington added that practical apprenticeship pathways provide direct entry into technical site management.

“I was initially drawn to an Apprenticeship because I wanted a hands-on career that challenged me, allowed me to develop practical skills and gave me the opportunity to create something lasting,” Paris said.
