For six decades, the University of Newcastle has delivered transformative research and education for the city and region, partnering with industry to drive economic impact and social prosperity.
As the University celebrates its 60th anniversary, it is inviting employers, business leaders, and industry representatives to the 2025 Industry Open Day.
Industry Open Day provides an opportunity to meet researchers and educators and discover how the University can help solve business challenges through research collaboration and teaching innovations. Participants can also learn how to engage with the University’s talent pipeline and bring skilled students into their workplace before graduation.
“Industry Open Day is an opportunity for us to deepen our partnerships with regional employers and showcase how the University’s research, teaching, and talent pipeline can support innovation and growth across the Hunter and beyond,” said Professor Steven Warburton, Pro-Vice Chancellor Education Innovation at the University of Newcastle.
Attendees can choose one of three professional development sessions: a Cultural Capability Taster focused on building a culturally responsive environment; a session on supervising placement students to enhance supervision skills; or a session on building your brand and talent pipeline through collaboration with higher education.
Alternatively, participants may tour the new Modern Manufacturing Workshop and Advanced Prototyping Facility, which support innovation in recycling, clean energy, and advanced technologies.
The event will also feature a Research, Teaching & Innovation Expo showcasing cutting-edge university initiatives and opportunities to connect with researchers and educators.
A keynote presentation will be delivered by Adam and Belinda MacDougall, University of Newcastle alumni and founders of The Man Shake, The Lady Shake and The Kids Shake, who will share their journey to successful health entrepreneurship.
A panel discussion will follow, exploring the future of industry-university collaboration and its role in regional development.
The event will be held at the University’s Callaghan Campus on Tuesday, 16 September. Registration is available via Eventbrite and closes Friday, 29 August.
Don’t miss this opportunity to explore how the University of Newcastle can support your organisation’s goals through collaboration, innovation, and talent development.
