Business owners launch business planning workshop

Business owners launch business planning workshop

Three local businesswomen have united to present a workshop targeted at small business owners.

Scheduled for this Saturday, the workshop will provide expert direction on how to achieve business goals, while maintaining strong relationships and managing both business and personal finance.

As the owner of the current business of the year for Lake Macquarie – GS Mechanical РRachael Sheldrick has the opportunity to spend time with many business owners in Newcastle.

“What I have noticed is there are a lot of small business owners who are looking for guidance when it comes to planning,” Rachael said.

“They are in the first few years of business and learning the ropes when it comes to setting goals that are both audacious and achievable, and they need tools and strategies to make those goals become their reality.

After a few requests from friends and colleagues, Rachael decided to create the workshop specifically to cater for small business owners who want to take their business to the next level in 2015.

“I realised that I had a lot to share, and so instead of having lots of quick telephone conversations, I wanted to plan for a half day to really drill down into the detail of it”.

In addition to GS Mechanical, Rachael also mentors other self-employed mechanics across Australia and New Zealand through her business The Workshop Whisperer. She has an 8-week online program and also mentors one-to-one.

“Mechanics receive no business training during their apprenticeships, and are finding it increasingly difficult to compete against dealerships, and based on our success in the industry,” Rachael said.

“I decided to step in and share the “secrets” to our success. We work on strategies to help them gain market share, how to run a more efficient team and how to set up their own unique customer service programs.”

The workshop will share strategies from Rachael, as well as from successful business owners Adele Martin of Firefly Wealth and Tara Whitewood, “The Sugar Doctor”.

Adele is a financial planner of national acclaim who will share valuable strategies for prioritising both personal and business finances. Adele has over 13 years’ experience in the financial planning industry and is also a small business owner.

The Sugar Doctor, will provide her tips for encouraging and maintaining strong bonds with people ‚Äì friends and family – while striving for business success. Tara has helped hundreds of singles and couples across Australia and is also an internationally accredited Extended DISC trainer and consultant.
