Two Newcastle solicitors have been named as finalists in the national 30 Under 30 awards, highlighting the calibre of legal practice in regional New South Wales. Caity Walker of The Family Law Co. and Georgina Price of Hamilton Janke Lawyers are among the young professionals recognised in the program which celebrates excellence across the Australian legal sector.
The nominations reflect a shift in career pathways for law graduates. While traditional routes were once associated with metropolitan firms, boutique practices in regional centres now offer courtroom experience and complex case exposure earlier in a solicitor’s career.
Admitted in 2022, Caity practises exclusively in family law and appears regularly in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. Her work includes significant litigation, appellate work and complex parenting and property proceedings.
Senior Solicitor at Hamilton Janke Lawyers, Georgina has extensive experience in criminal defence across NSW and the ACT. Her career has included roles with Legal Aid, the Aboriginal Legal Service and serving as an associate to both a magistrate and a District Court judge. She appears in Local, District and Supreme courts for bail applications, sentences and appeals.
The success of practitioners from Newcastle demonstrates the role of specialist regional firms in nurturing talent. Both The Family Law Co. and Hamilton Janke Lawyers operate as boutique practices, allowing solicitors to manage high-stakes matters while remaining connected to the local community.
The recognition of local solicitors suggests ambitious lawyers no longer need to relocate to capital cities to build impactful careers. The awards ceremony will be held in Sydney in March 2026, where Caity and Georgina will be recognised alongside other young legal professionals from across the country.
