After a sold-out debut in 2024, the Hunter Children’s Research Foundation (HCRF) has announced the return of its Lunch for the Kids fundraising event, to be held at Spicers Guesthouse in Pokolbin on Friday, 19 September 2025.
The long lunch, which raises funds for critical children’s health research through the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), will again feature a blend of fine dining, entertainment, and community spirit.
HCRF Chair, Sheryl Nisner said the committee was looking forward to building on the success of last year’s event.
“Now in its second year, we’re so excited to bring this event back after the incredible support we received last year,” Sheryl said.
“We’re aiming to raise more than $50,000 through raffles, auctions and donations, with every dollar helping take research from an idea on the shelf to life-saving, life-changing impact.”
The 2025 program will feature an on-stage conversation between childhood cancer researcher, Professor Matt Dunn and television personality and children’s health advocate, Johanna Griggs, who will also host the event.
Guests will also be treated to live art, with acclaimed artist, Angi Dlapiu creating two original works during the lunch which will later be auctioned.
The seasonal menu, curated by Eremo Restaurant’s Executive Chef, will be paired with wines from First Creek Wines. Guests can also expect live music, outdoor lounges, and the hospitality the Hunter Valley is known for.
Hunter Construction Group has returned as the naming rights partner, with Tooheys and Greg Tapp Printing also confirmed as event supporters.
Sheryl said the luncheon was about more than good food and wine.
“It’s a chance for our community to come together in support of research that has the potential to change outcomes for children not just here in the Hunter, but across the world,” Sheryl said.
“We back our local footy teams, our local businesses and local brands, it’s time we also help back our local researchers who are making discoveries today that will help sick children and their families for generations.”
Tickets for Lunch for the Kids are now on sale and available until Thursday, 4 September. Funds raised will go directly to children’s health research.
