Not-for-profit and charity organisations can apply for grants to enable projects supporting the Maitland and Hunter community in Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation’s latest funding round, opening on Monday today and closing on Monday 6 May.
Charitable Foundation Executive Officer, Graham Batten is hosting a workshop and urging local organisations to apply before the funding round closes.
“All charity organisations with deductible gift recipient status in Maitland and the Hunter looking to fund projects that address important community issues can apply for a grant from the charitable foundation. We support projects that help people who are disadvantaged, marginalised or isolated and support social opportunity and development in our regional communities,” Graham said.
To help groups understand the application guidelines and process, local organisations are invited to attend a free workshop on how to apply for a grant from 11am on Thursday 4 April at East Maitland Bowling Club, Banks St in East Maitland.
“The two-hour workshop will explain how to apply for grant funding, how applications are assessed, and the types of community projects that have been funded in the past. It will also be an opportunity to meet members of our team and network with other local not-for-profits,” Graham said.
“I encourage anyone who is interested in submitting a grant application to attend one of our workshops. The feedback we’ve received from past attendees is that what they learned at the workshop was invaluable in preparing their funding application.”
The charitable foundation has recently supported local projects including $52,000 for the recently opened Morpeth Men’s Shed; $55,000 for Compass Housing’s GROW A Star Scholarship program; and $26,000 to Early Links for a resource upgrade at its East Maitland and Muswellbrook Centres.
Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation distributes more than $1.5 million each year to facilitate charitable projects that address disadvantage in local communities throughout the Hunter, Central West, Central Coast, New England, Mid North Coast and Northern Rivers regions of NSW. Since its establishment in 2003, the foundation has provided more than $19.1 million to 448 community projects and initiatives.
