Tantrum Youth Arts has welcomed Paul Adams as its new Executive Director, bringing a wealth of experience from his previous role at the Royal Ballet and Opera (UK).
Paul is an experienced strategic and inclusive arts leader, creative producer, and accessibility advocate. His career spans theatre production, arts education, artist development, community engagement, and systems change in access and inclusion.
“I can’t wait to make noise with Tantrum. It is an absolute privilege to serve Tantrum and its dedicated team of artists, young people, members, and partners,” Paul said.
His experience and values align with Tantrum’s mission to empower young people through transformative arts programs, harnessing their creative agency.
Paul’s vision is a world where access to arts experiences is universal, advocating for lasting change in how diverse communities experience, lead, and shape the arts industry. “I have dedicated my work to building a more equitable arts sector, where everyone is invited, included, and can be part of shaping lasting change,” he said.
Paul has led significant initiatives at prestigious institutions in the UK and internationally, including Oldham Coliseum, Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG), Wolf Trap, and Singapore Repertory Theatre. He was instrumental in the development and expansion of Singapore Repertory Theatre’s Centre for Creative Learning, fostering international partnerships and promoting access and inclusion for Deaf and disabled communities.
At the Royal Ballet and Opera (UK), Paul led an organisation-wide accessibility improvement plan, developing accessible events and enhancing visitor experiences. His work contributed to audience development strategy and making the arts more inclusive.
“I am thrilled to join Tantrum at a time when there’s a chance to lower the barriers to theatre-making, ensuring young artists have the space to thrive and that hidden voices are heard,” Paul said.
