Chairman of the Hunter Valley Wine and Tourism Association, the Hon. George Souris, has announced that Jo Thomas has been appointed to the role of General Manager – Destination & Digital Marketing with the Hunter Valley Wine and Tourism Association.
“Jo comes to us with significant experience within the wine, tourism and events industries, which spans over 20 years. Most recently she was Marketing Manager at Golden Door Australia and previously the Marketing Manager for Tourism Hunter,” he said.
“Jo has worked in senior marketing and management roles, and is familiar with the challenges that face a not-for-profit organisation. Her experience encompasses the implementation of the Visitor Economy Report and the formulation of a Regional Destination Management Plan. This will assist the Association in leveraging future funding opportunities for the benefit of members and stakeholders in the whole tourism industry in Hunter Wine Country.”
Jo said her initial focus will be on destination marketing, media communication, e-commerce strategies and membership growth and renewal for the coming year.
“It is also important for the Association to keep a strong focus on all wine and tourism operators and venues, big and small, together with the Villages of the area and the numerous tourism attractions in the Singleton and Cessnock local government areas,” Jo said.
