One of the region’s training firms is now offering local leaders and managers the option of easing their way into study at the University of Newcastle.
Director, Chad White said people completing a Forsythes Training nationally accredited Diploma in Leadership and Management can now earn credit points to business courses at the University of Newcastle.
“Starting a diploma with us first is a flexible way to get back into leadership and management study and may make financial sense,” Chad said.
“The cost of our Diploma is currently only $2,850 under the Smart and Skilled Program. Successful completion will save you 25% of your HECS fee for the undergraduate degree.”
The Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management provides 80 units of credit to either a Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Commerce degree. The Diploma of Leadership and Management earns 60 units of credit.
Chad said doing a diploma gives an upcoming or existing manager a formal qualification and great skills before deciding if they want to commit to a university degree.
He said Forsythes Training’s courses are practical and taught by industry experts with real business experience. Forsythes Training also offers flexible delivery. Training can be delivered on site, online or at Forsythes’ Newcastle West training centre.
“We offer additional student support days with trainers for those who need it as well as an online resource centre,” Chad said.
“When providing leadership and management training programs for organisations, we always customise and contextualise the training in line with the organisation’s policies, business needs and leadership development initiatives.”
He said the firm is seeing an increasing take up of their short courses in emotional intelligence, which is critical for today’s leaders.
“We’re the only local training firm using both Human Synergistics and Myers Briggs Indicator Type tools to help leaders understand how they perceive others and how people perceive them,” Chad said.
“Myers Briggs also helps teams to function better by identifying each member’s cognitive processes.”
The new partnership with the University of Newcastle was established after Forsythes Training became one of the first registered training organisation’s nationally to be approved to run the new TAE40116 Certificate IV training and assessment qualification.
“These initiatives are examples of how we are continually improving our offering to local businesses to meet their training needs in this fast paced and ever changing business world,” Chad said.
