The Mai-Wel Group are now providers of a new service called ‘Parent Pathways’ a voluntary pre-employment service for parents and carers.
With the help of a qualified mentor, parents and carers can now receive flexible support to assist with any personal, study or work goals. This service will offer a range of support options, which includes working with a mentor and being provided with supports and services, tailored to the individual.
Mai-Wel has been established in the community since 1960 and is well-known for providing supports and programs to vulnerable people, which has since expanded to support young people through Workforce Australia-Transition to Work and now parents and carers.
Mai-Wel prides itself on tailored supports, and this service will be no different. Mai-Wel has several established partnerships and employee relations through our Mai-Wel LabourForce Solution programs. We are excited about the opportunities that this will bring for parents and carers in our regions and supporting them on their journey to employment or further education and training.
“We are thrilled to be successful in this opportunity to provide tailored and individualised pre-employment services to parents and carers. We want to ensure that parents and carers voices are heard and will collaborate with parents to co-design supports, which are tailored to enhance accessibility.
Mai-Wel empowers people to change their lives, and through Parent Pathways, we aim to continue our advocacy work for individuals, ensuring that they have equal access to the skills, training and employment opportunities,” General Manager of Employment Services, Kyllie Tegg said.
“Mai-Wel is truly full of possible, we began as a disability provider and have since expanded our supports to various members of the community. We look forward to the future and supporting parents and carers,” CEO of Mai-Wel, John Cleary said.
The service will offer a range of support options, including working with a mentor to find activities, services and/or training that meet the needs of each parent or carer who is participating.
Mai-Wel will co-locate across several locations which include the following areas:
- Cessnock
- Cooranbong
- Denman
- Dungog
