The annual Breast Care Breakfast will mark its 20th anniversary on Thursday 29 October 2026 at NEX Newcastle, raising funds for the Hunter Nurse Education Group. Established following the loss of a partner’s wife at accounting firm PKF Newcastle, the morning fundraiser has grown over two decades into one of the region’s largest community health events.

All proceeds from the event remain in the Hunter region to support local breast care nurses through continuing education grants, conference attendance, travel subsidies, professional development and nurse-led research projects. The 2025 event raised $68,299 for regional healthcare training, with organisers targeting expanded funding outcomes for the 2026 milestone gathering.

The 2026 program, running from 7:00am to 9:00am, includes guest speaker presentations, raffle draws and retrospectives honoring the past 20 years of donor contributions. Event organisers confirmed that 80 per cent of available tickets have been sold ahead of the October date.

The fundraising model directly strengthens healthcare outcomes across the Hunter by keeping capital local. Over its 20-year history, the event has transitioned from a small corporate morning tea into a major annual fixture that underwrites specialised clinical accreditations, regional healthcare worker retention, and advanced oncology nursing practices.
