R&R Murphy is an engineering manufacturing firm that was established in 2004.

The business has stayed nimble and looked to what is coming around the corner to maintain a point of difference and their success.

Managing Director, Rod Murphy said the business looks at innovation as an opportunity and “we back ourselves to make something of it.

“I believe that over the years we have developed a reputation as a quality provider in metal fabrication and now we are specialising in areas like transport, defence, underground mining, architecture and general fabrication,” Rod said.

R&R Murphy has designed, developed and built the Cart Ya Coffee, a mobile coffee stall built around a bike. Rod said he first saw a miniature version of the cart when he was travelling in New Zealand and thought their business could make something of it.

R&R Murphy set about modifying a bike they bought from China, engaged a local solar expert and talked to local government to see what they needed to do to ensure council compliance.

Cart Ya Coffee is a mobile coffee cart that is environmentally friendly, has refrigeration, captures all waste and keeps going through the power of the sun for eight hours.

Owner and Operator of the cart, Grant Murphy said “apart from the environmentally friendly equipment and the novelty failure it brings to any event, it makes great coffee”.

R&R Murphy relies on good old-fashioned service and believes it’s the cornerstone of its success. However, there is nothing old in relation to their attitude towards innovation. The business believes it is a benchmark that firms from around the region should aspire to.
