Newcastle-based women’s fashion brand, Privvy has partnered with Got Your Back Sista and Lifeline Newcastle to launch their annual month-long charity clothing drive.
For the month of March, Privvy customers are encouraged to give back to the community by donating their high quality, pre-loved women’s clothes which can then be resold in Got Your Back Sista and Lifeline Hunter stores.
Owner and Director of Louise Hampson said that she is excited to bring funds and awareness to some amazing charities.
“Being in the fashion industry, where waste is a common concern, comes our responsibility to promote more effective wear and care for our clothes,” Louise said.
“Reusing, recycling and donating is important, and I believe Privvy is the perfect vessel to help achieve this.”
Just in time for the imminent cooler seasons and that long overdue wardrobe declutter, customers will be gifted a $15 Privvy store voucher for their efforts, allowing them to stock up on the season’s newest trends, everyday staples, and autumn/winter warmers.
To get involved, a biodegradable bag can be picked up from any of the five Privvy locations (The Junction, Kotara, Maitland, Glendale or Salamander Bay) for customers to take home and declutter their wardrobe.
When the bag is full of quality, donatable women’s clothing, simply bring it in store in exchange for a $15 Privvy store voucher (only one voucher per person).
Founder of Got Your Back Sista, Melissa Histon said that she is immensely grateful to Privvy for facilitating the collection and donation of clothing items.
“‘Village People Op Shop is a key financial support for Got Your Back Sista charity,” Melissa said.
“All proceeds from the store’s sales help us to support women who have experienced domestic violence to get back on their feet and rebuild their lives.”
Got Your Back Sista helps women and children begin their lives again after experiencing domestic violence by providing information, advice, and personalised support.
Lifeline supports the community and people experiencing difficulty through accessible crisis support, counselling, education, community capacity building and referral services.
