Clients of local accounting firm, PKF got a surprise this month when their engagement letters and communications from PKF came with a certain pink hue.
For the mid-tier accounting and business advisory firm, October is usually a busy time in preparation for the Annual Breast Care Breakfast, an event that began 14 years ago, raising money for the Hunter Nurse Education Group.
With the cancellation of the event for the second year in a row, the team at PKF couldn’t let Breast Cancer Awareness Month go by without making some pink noise.
Rallying together sponsors, partners, clients and their own team, the cause has gained great momentum from the likes of Olympic Silver-Medalist and local paratriathlete, Lauren Parker who is also a PKF Ambassador, to PKF client, the NSW Greyhound Breeders, Owners and Trainers Association (NSW GBOTA).
The pink initiative that started in Newcastle has spread across Australian cities and around the world, reaching the accountants family firms in Mexico, Japan, Malta, Africa, Brazil, and the Netherlands, who have also turned pink in the name of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Managing Director of PKF, Steve Meyn said that it was important to continue the tradition, so everyone could continue to rally for this great cause despite the COVID-19 challenges and hiccups.
“Supporting the Hunter Breast Care Nurses is something that is very important to PKF and being held back from our usual event was disappointing,” Steve said.
“I am so pleased that we’ve been able to pivot and continue to raise awareness and funds for a group that is very close to our hearts.
“This month is all about recognising the hard work of not only the Hunter Breast Care Nurses, but all nurses, who provide important care in what is undoubtedly the most difficult time of someone’s life,” he concluded.
Being just over halfway through October, PKF has already reached its fundraising goal, but are not holding back on their efforts to spread the word in the name of breast cancer awareness.
