A full fleet of state-of-the-art sports turf equipment will provide Hunter TAFE students with the best possible opportunities in the field.
The equipment has been provided to Hunter TAFE through a partnership with commercial turf management suppliers, TORO Australia.
The partnership also includes ongoing training and servicing of the equipment which will ensure the Hunter TAFE Sports Turf Management facility will be abreast of industry changes as they occur.
TORO Australia’s Senior Sales Manager for Golf, Mark Johnson, said that the program not only supported education and training in the Hunter region but also the future Australian turf management industry.
“Students coming through Hunter TAFE will all at some stage become end users of TORO turf management equipment,” Mark said.
“The students here are the future of our industry and TORO is proud to be involved in their careers from the very beginning.”
The TORO machinery fleet is the latest technology on the market and includes mowing, utility and renovation equipment. The acquisition of the equipment enables teaching staff and students at Hunter TAFE to work with quality equipment in a hands-on learning environment that is in line with current industry best-practice.
Hunter TAFE offers both certificate III and IV in Sports Turf Management at the Kurri Kurri Campus and has educated industry professionals right across regional NSW including golf course superintendents working at some of the most prominent golf courses in NSW.
Head teacher of Turf & Mining Management at Hunter TAFE, Chris Booth said the TORO machinery is critical to the delivery of the Sports Turf Management program at the Kurri Kurri campus and provides opportunities for future partnerships with other organisations and associations in the turf management industry.
“The new TORO machinery is integral to the mission of Hunter TAFE in delivering the Sports Turf Management program,” Chris said.
“This equipment ensures we are positioned to provide students and the industry as a whole with a current, practical and innovative teaching program.”
