Osborn Law has added to the strength of its commercial and employment teams with the addition of two new team members.
Joining the team as a Commercial Lawyer, Kate Bardwell brings over six years of legal experience. Kate has practiced in commercial and corporate advisory, estate planning, property and litigation and has acted for some of Australia’s largest insurers in public liability, debt recovery and life insurance matters.
Kate’s experience also extends to providing advice to charities and not-for profits on corporate and commercial matters, as well as advising the national regulator, the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission.
The Osborn Law team added further to its expertise with the addition of Commercial and Employment Lawyer, Kate-Eliza David. Kate-Eliza joined following three years working in Humans Resources at a Newcastle-based coal terminal.
Kate-Eliza’s experience includes advising across industrial relations and employment relations areas such as strategic workplace consultation, employment contracts and remuneration packages, drafting workplace policies and implementation of performance management systems.
Kate-Eliza’s experience further extends to advising commercial clients on policy and assisting with litigating corporate disputes.
The firm’s Solicitor Director, Christie Howson said both women’s skills were a great complement to the team’s well-established expertise.
“We already have strong skills and experience across our firm’s focus areas of commercial, property and employment law as well as litigation and debt recovery, wills and probate,” Christie said.
“Both Kate and Kate-Eliza will serve to bolster the existing commercial and employment services, with their experience and industry knowledge. We know that our clients will benefit from their particular skill base.”
Kate Bardwell said the business’ values tied together with her own.
“We both enjoy working closely with clients and providing the best and most practical solutions to their legal matters, which is the key value of Osborn Law and a main reason for us choosing the firm,” Kate said.
Kate-Eliza David said the move to Osborn Law was the right one at this point in her career.
“The mentoring we have received from all three directors and senior staff has been wonderful. Everyone at the firm prides themselves on being approachable which, at this point in both our careers, is extremely important and something that isn’t offered at a lot of other legal firms,” Kate-Eliza said.
