Recently the Upper Hunter Shire Council announced the appointment of Waid Crockett to the role of General Manager.
The Mayor of the Upper Hunter Shire Council, Cr Michael Johnsen, said that Waid would be replacing the highly regarded incumbent, Daryl Dutton, who is retiring at the end of September.
“I am delighted to advise that after two rounds of interviews and the very competitive evaluation of some outstanding candidates from across Australia and New Zealand the Council has signed a five year contract with Waid Crockett, current Group Leader Community Services at Cessnock City Council,” Michael said.
“Waid has a distinguished background of service at local authorities in the Hunter (Cessnock) and New Zealand (Horowhenua District Council and Tauranga City Council) as well as CEO of Raukawa Settlement Trust, Takoroa, New Zealand.”
“The decision to appoint Mr Crockett was unanimous amongst the eight Councillors able to attend the final interview and I thank my fellow Councillors for the very professional manner in which their contributions have been made”.
Waid has tertiary qualifications in Business Management from Massey University in New Zealand and is finalising his Masters of Business Administration majoring in finance.
He also has private sector experience running his own business and undertaking business management for private sector firms.
In accepting the Council offer Waid said that he is excited about joining the organisation and making a significant contribution to the Upper Hunter Shire.
“There are many challenges facing local government and Council at the moment and we will need a collective effort to meet these challenges and find solutions that best serve our community,” Waid said.
“I look forward to working with the Council, staff and community in the years ahead”.
Waid will take up the role of General Manager in late September to coincide with Mr Dutton’s retirement date.
