Regional Development Australia Hunter (RDA Hunter) has appointed Kate O’Mara as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Kate will lead RDA Hunter in delivering initiatives that support the region’s industries, build a skilled local workforce, and communicate key priorities to government.
RDA Hunter Chair, John Turner OAM, said Kate is well-positioned to drive the organisation’s vision forward.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kate as the new CEO of RDA Hunter,” John said.
“With her regional development background, intimate knowledge of RDA Hunter and the RDA network, and passion for the region, Kate is the ideal person to lead the organisation into its next chapter. We are confident that under Kate’s guidance, RDA Hunter will continue to play a pivotal role in the Hunter’s growth and development.”
Kate said she is excited to step into the role.
“I’m looking forward to helping RDA Hunter be a strong representative in and for the region,” Kate said.
“We’re in a unique position of being supported by the Australian Government under the Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories, while also having the autonomy to drive initiatives that matter to the Hunter.
“My priority is to strengthen our partnerships locally, nationally and internationally and build on the work we’ve undertaken since 2009 to communicate the Hunter’s strengths and investment opportunities.”
John also acknowledged the contributions of retiring CEO, Trevor John, who has led RDA Hunter for the past eight years.
“We thank and recognise Trevor for his dedication and significant contributions to RDA Hunter and the region,” John said.
“Under his leadership, RDA Hunter has fostered important partnerships that have delivered positive outcomes for local economies, industries, and communities. On behalf of my fellow Directors, I wish Trevor all the best in his retirement.”
