SMSF Adviser in partnership with SuperConcepts has announced the NSW winners for the SMSF and Accounting Awards.
The SMSF and Accounting Awards are the first of their kind in Australia, and recognise professionals who are setting the benchmark for excellence in the provision of services to clients in their home state.
East Maitland based firm, Bottrell Business Consultants has taken out a prestigious industry award for its success in the company’s accounting division.
The business won the Accounting Firm of the Year at the inaugural state-based SMSF and Accounting Awards.
Bottrell was amongst other Hunter-based finalists and winners recognised at an award function at Sofitel Wentworth, Sydney in front of a crowd of 250 industry professionals. Amongst other local winners, Cutcher & Neale’s Shane Morgan won SMSF Adviser of the Year, David Henrikson from PKF won SMSF Specialist Accountant of the Year, Leenane Templeton won the Community Engagement Program of the Year and TriSuper Auditors’ Joel Curry won Auditor of the Year.
Managing Director of Bottrell, Gavin Bottrell said it took a team effort to achieve the award.

The judges commented on the difficulty they had in selecting winners in all categories due to the exceptional quality of nominees this year, and particularly remarked on the efforts firms and individuals are going to with innovation and client servicing standards.
Bottrell Business Consultants is regularly recognised throughout the Hunter and surrounding areas, also now at a state-wide level, for their passion in the industry and commitment to the local community.
The SMSF and Accounting Awards is the first nationwide industry awards program for state-based performance — recognising excellence in the SMSF advice and accounting professions. These awards acknowledge individuals and businesses who are leading the way in SMSF advice and accounting by championing professionalism, quality advice and innovation.
