Business Hunter’s annual Charity Golf Day raised $21,000 for disability and employment support provider Mai-Wel during a sold-out corporate tournament at Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club on Thursday 24 September 2026. Facilitated by the Hunter Business Golf Group, the event brought together nearly 150 players and 20 corporate sponsors from across the regional business sector.
The event featured on-course fundraising activities, including a Hole-in-One competition sponsored by Cardiff Toyota, a Nearest to the Pin contest, a Marshmallow Tee-Off challenge, a 100 Club raffle, and a Golden Card Draw that distributed 35 prizes donated by regional businesses. SJH Communications served as the primary event sponsor, while Superior Pest Management sponsored the course beverage service.
All proceeds from the tournament will directly fund Mai-Wel’s regional support services, assisting individuals with disability across the Hunter to access vocational training, secure employment, and participate in community activities. Mai-Wel has provided disability, housing, and job placement services in the Hunter region for over 65 years.
Chief Participant Officer at Mai-Wel, Jenny Capellacci stated that corporate contributions directly support client service delivery.
“Every dollar raised today goes straight back into supporting the people we work with to live the life they choose,” Jenny said.
“We’re very grateful to Business Hunter, the Hunter Business Golf Group and every player and sponsor who backed the day. Support like this makes a real difference.”
Owner of Hunter Business Golf Group, Greg Dawson added that the sell-out turnout highlights ongoing commercial support for local non-profit organisations.
“It was great to see so many people from the Hunter business community come together to back this cause,” Greg said.
“To sell out the course with both players and sponsorships is a fantastic result.”
