Local business woman named as a finalist for AusMumpreneur Awards

Mim Jenkinson, the local business woman behind Love From Mim, has been named as a finalist for the 2020 AusMumpreneur Awards.

She has been named a finalist in five categories, which include: Global Brand, Digital Innovation, Product Design and Rising Star. She is also in the running for the People’s Choice Award for Leadership.

The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by The Women’s Business School celebrates and recognises Australian Mum’s in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation.

The Awards are designed to recognise the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.

“I am delighted to be named as a finalist and I’m proud of what I’ve achieved so far, particularly in carving out a unique niche in a crowded market and creating a sustainable, scaleable digital income that has thankfully withstood the current pandemic,” she said.

In her global online business, Mim inspires busy women to have fun and get creative with planning and organisation. She designs and creates unique and in-demand digital planning products as well as content, courses and programs.

Mim shares practical steps and realistic strategies to create long-lasting, positive habits as well as teaching hundreds of women how to use their creative skills to start digital businesses from home.

She also published her first book, Less Wine, More Time in January 2020.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, Mim turned her hobby of content and product creation into a business.

Leaving a well-paid job to undergo gruelling treatment, she took this opportunity to focus her attention on something therapeutic as well as fun.

Little did she know that as she shared her story and journey, she would build up an audience of loyal women who would continue to follow her, learn from me and work with her years on.

Mim said that there are many benefits she has reaped from balancing business and motherhood.

“Every day, I am setting an example to my children to show that I am strong, focused and highly capable of leading and helping others and making money,” she said.

“I have finally found the solution to what balance means to me and have the flexibility and quality time with my family that I’ve always wanted. When my daughter was asked recently at school what she wanted to be when she grew up, she said “I want my own business and to work at home, just like my mum!”

Whilst it can be challenging to be a successful business woman while raising a family, Mim provides this advice for others thinking about starting their own enterprise.

“Take the time to research and find who your ideal customers might be – before you even create your product and start a business,” she said.

“Think about how you will stand out, how your product or service solves a challenge and who is solves it for. Always have your customer (ideal and existing) in the forefront of your mind: put yourself in their shoes, ask them questions and take an interest in who they really are, what they need to make their life easier and how you can help.

“If you are delivering a product or service that people need, and you are passionate about providing, you’ve hit the jackpot!”

The winners of the 2020 AusMumpreneur Awards will be announced at an online event later this month.
