For most families who stay at Ronald McDonald House Newcastle much of the day is spent in hospitals and between medical appointments. At a time like this, what to prepare and eat for dinner is often the last thing on the list.
On Thursday, 18 September 2014 it was a night of homemade pizzas and games as the Hunter Young Professionals (HYP) board of directors took to the Ronald McDonald House kitchen serving up homemade pizzas and salads to the families spending the night in the purpose-built facility.
HYP provides opportunities for young people to network in a business environment, gain new management and leadership skills and support the local community organisations like Ronald McDonald House, enabling them to develop as the business leaders of tomorrow.
“Ronald McDonald House is an important facility for families and HYP is very proud to continue our association and support such a wonderful charity,” Adel Issa, HYP President, said.
Chantelle Woolmer, Ronald McDonald House Newcastle Assistant House Manager said they were thankful to the HYP team for donating their time and taking care of dinner for families staying at Ronald McDonald House.
“Our goal is to provide an atmosphere for families and their children, where the familiar routines of home life can continue as much as possible during which is often a stressful and difficult time,” Chantelle said.
Ronald McDonald House Newcastle provides a ‘Home away from Home’ to over 800 families of seriously ill or injured children each year.
