In its fourth year, the Hunter Safety Awards will be shining a spotlight on Work, Health and Safety (WHS) initiatives in the Hunter area.
Event Founder, Sarah-Jane Dunford confessed that there have been some close calls throughout the judging process this year. She, along with a panel of industry experts and sponsor representatives, have announced the finalists for the 2019 Hunter Safety Awards.
“We are always so impressed with the range of WHS ideas and initiatives that local businesses and individuals have come up with,” Sarah-Jane said.
“This year’s finalists represent a wide range of industries and sectors in the Hunter area. The calibre of entries made it hard to pick the finalists. It was amazing to learn how companies are developing world-first products, creating a culture of change for their organisation or inspiring others to embrace WHS.
“It’s great to see a growing awareness for the importance of safety at work.”
Launched in 2016, the Hunter Safety Awards were developed to highlight and acknowledge companies and individuals within the region who demonstrate best-practice and take an innovative approach to workplace health and safety.
The Hunter Safety Awards are supported by a range of local, national and international sponsors.
“Our major partner, AGL, has come back on board again this year. We’re so grateful to have their support for a second year running, we simply wouldn’t be able to recognise and reward our finalists and eventual winners without AGL’s help,” Sarah-Jane said.
“We are also supported by 11 awards sponsors including returning sponsors University of Newcastle, uvex, WesTrac, 3M, Red Insight, Sonic HealthPlus, Programmed Skilled Workforce and some new faces like Jason Reading Landscapes, MRS Services Group and ACI Global.”
Awards will be presented across 12 categories – including the newest addition, Best Health & Wellbeing Program’ – with the winners to be announced at a gala event on Friday 15 March 2019 at Newcastle Exhibition & Conference Centre (NEX).
“We are predicting a large turnout, filled with those supporting the finalists and celebrating the winners. We also expect a number of individuals within the industry to attend, as an opportunity to network with other WHS professionals,” Sarah-Jane said.
