After recently being impacted by redundancy, Human Resources professional Ben Glashoff, with the support of Michelle Crawford, Organisational Development Manager at Forsythes Recruitment and Hunter TAFE, is coordinating fellow HR professionals, some of which have also experienced job loss, to share their experience and skills to assist people who have been made redundant and have not received outplacement services support.
“While we hear about the high volume of job losses from large organisations across the Newcastle and Hunter region, we miss the silent but significant numbers of small and medium businesses who have had to make reductions in staff or in some cases shutdown all together,” Ben said.
“It’s hard to say anyone who is made redundant is better off, however those who have been made redundant from larger organisations are often afforded support such as outplacement service to assist in transitioning to their next job; something that small and medium organisations cannot afford or don’t think to offer.”
The HR community is running two free workshops at the Newcastle TAFE campus on Wednesday, 6 August 2014, the first from 9am – 12pm and a second will run from 1pm – 4pm.
The purpose of the workshops will be to help people build the skills and confidence to successfully find their next role and manage their wellbeing through the often challenging transition.
