Not many people are able to put “met and filmed the Dalai Lama” on their CV. Local filmmaker Allan Brady of GMRX Media is an exception.
Newcastle-based Allan will present the video art piece to his holiness at the Everglades Historic House in Wentworthville during his “Ocean of Wisdom” visit in July.
Allan was invited to film the Dalai Lama while he delivered a talk at the Sydney Entertainment Centre during his last visit to Australia in 2013. The filming was a part of a multimedia art piece created alongside several other renowned national artists with all funds raised to go towards supporting the Tibetian Youth Rehabilitation Centre.
While not filming international spiritual gurus, Allan has been running local production company GMRX Media for the last four years. In that time, GMRX has worked with the likes of accounting giants Xero, Fairfax Media, Westfield, The University of Newcastle, University of Technology Sydney, Walkom Real Estate, PRD nationwide, Superstrike and Apple Truck Cider.
Recently, GMRX Media produced a television commercial series for PRD Nationwide’s Easy Move. Managing Director Mark Kentwell had this to say about working with GMRX Media:
“We are very clear on where each of our brands are positioned in the market and how we want thing to look and feel,” Mark said. “Therefore we needed a production company that was willing to listen to our marketing personnel and myself on getting our Easy Move TVCs just right.”
“GMRX were very patient in running several casting sessions and workshopping scripting ideas until we arrived at the right formula to take to the public. We’ve had a great response from the community on the TVCs and it’s great to see a plan come to fruition.”
GMRX also created the Strike Dudley television commercial series for local bowling chain SuperStrike, which have been going to air for over two years. After the initial launch of the campaign, SuperStrike saw its biggest sales day, biggest sales week then its biggest sales month.
In addition to GMRX’s commercial side there’s also a strong emphasis on creative storytelling, either through the medium of documentary or music video clips. A music video filmed for central coast band Little Earthquake received national and international media attention and was featured on tonedeaf.com.au, themusic.
GMRX Media is located in The Production Hub on Crown Street, and this year is looking to be its biggest and busiest, with a slate of documentary, music video clips and television commercials in the pipeline for the remainder of 2015.
