In collaboration with Greater Bank, Façon Australia have announced mentor finalists for the newly founded ‘Indigenous Storytellers Scholarship’.

The Indigenous Storytellers Scholarship will provide the winner with $10,000 to support their creative dreams. Each of the nine finalists will also gain access to mentorship from a creative leader in their chosen field.

The official scholarship winner is to be announced at an event at Murrook Cultural Centre in Port Stephens on Thursday, 6 July during NAIDOC Week.

Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council CEO, Andrew Smith said that he was ecstatic with the response and the immense talent of all who applied for the Indigenous Storytellers Scholarship.

“We are extremely excited to announce the finalists and accompanying mentors in each category,” Andrew said.

“This project is a unique and exciting opportunity to showcase and enhance the wonderful, abundant, and positive contributions being made by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to the arts industry.

Façon Australia’s Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Lara Lupish, said the scholarship was a natural and positive step in developing the talents of the current and next generation of Indigenous artists.

“Greater Bank is also an incredibly important contributor to the program, providing the $10,000 to support our scholarship winners in realising their career dreams,” Lara said.

An independent panel comprised of leaders in Indigenous, business, and artistic communities have selected the finalists from each category, with all nine finalists to obtain sound advice from a leader in their field, as well as featuring in a bespoke edition of Façon Magazine.
